In honor of Sikeston's 150th Anniversary, the City of Sikeston is planning a year-long celebration in 2010 that includes special events such as a Founders Day Ball, Sikeston in Bloom, a Civil War Re-enactment, and a special July 4th Independence Day fireworks display and many more community activities are planned..
Community
businesses, corporations, and civic groups are
invited to take part in this
unique
opportunity to help residents and visitors to
celebrate 150 years by sponsoring events
throughout the year.
The events calendar is now available for viewing on the Sikeston Area Chamber of Commerce Sesquicentennial Web Site at http://www.sikeston.net/150/.

Along with the beauty of fall foliage
comes the task of dealing with a seemingly never-ending supply of fallen
leaves. While some residents opt to mulch or compost their leaves,
the majority of Sikeston’s residents will take advantage of the City’s
Leaf Collection Program which began November 16, 2009.
