KRCC Telethon set for March 25

Kenny Rogers Children’s Center is celebrating 50 years and this year’s telethon is packed with plenty of events.

Established in 1973, the Kenny Rogers Children’s Center provides occupational, physical and speech therapy to children throughout the area at no cost to the families it serves.

This year’s telethon will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 25 at the Miner Convention Center, with many activities on tap.

The day will begin with a 5K Run/Walk, beginning at the Kenny Rogers Children’s Center. Registration is at 9 a.m. with the race beginning at 9:30 a.m. The cost is $30. There will be a post-race $100 cash prize drawing and all registered are eligible to win.

A cornhole tournament will be held at 11 a.m. with registration beginning at 10 a.m. The cost is $40 per team with a 75% payout. The event will be held at the American Legion, 333 S. Kingshighway in Sikeston. Contact Ashley Ervin at ashleyfbla@gmail.com to register.

A silent auction will be held at the Miner Convention Center with hundreds of items up for bid. Online bidding will begin March 20 with items on display at the Miner Convention Center on March 25. The auction will close at 4 p.m. on March 25.

Southeast Missouri’s best food trucks will be gathered at the Miner Convention Center serving crab legs, barbecue, donuts, funnel cakes, specialty sandwiches and more. Lunch will begin at 11 a.m. on March 25.

At 7 p.m. on March 25, Sikeston VFW, 709 Smith Street, will host Black Light Bingo. Door will open at 6 p.m.

Each Friday, through March 31, the Tri-County Clowns will hold Lenten Fish Fries at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 1010 N. Main St. in Sikeston. The cost is $15 for a plate that includes three pieces of fish, fries, coleslaw, baked beans, and hush puppies. (March 13, 2023)
