SIKESTON – On Monday, the Sikeston City Council appointed Amanda Groves as the city treasurer/finance director.

Karen Bailey, outgoing city treasurer/finance director, will be retiring in August and will continue to work with Groves in her new role until then.

Groves began working at the City of Sikeston in April 2001 in the City Collector’s office. After 10 months, she transferred to the City Treasurer Division and processed accounts payable for 15 years. Groves then accepted the position of staff accountant and worked in payroll and general ledger.

In 2018, Groves achieved her aPHR certification and in 2020 her SHRM-CP certification. She was promoted to her current position as Human Resources Director in 2020.

“I’m grateful to the city council and the city manager for giving me the opportunity to continue to serve the City of Sikeston and its citizens in a new capacity,” Groves said. “I’m looking forward to moving into the new role and the challenges it will bring.”

The City of Sikeston will begin recruiting for Groves’ replacement as HR Director in the very near future. (Feb. 2, 2023)
