Four Sikeston Department of Safety officers graduated from law enforcement academy last week while another four officers have completed the fire academy.

Jonathan Hays, Michael Spies, Christopher Essary and Dakota Harrington graduated Thursday night from the SEMO Law Enforcement Academy and now will be placed with field training officers in patrol and begin their on-the-job training.

The training is about three months long and upon completion, they will be put on the schedule rotation in the spring.

In the past six months, eight fire trainees have taken part in getting their fire certifications as well. So far, four have earned their certification while four others still have testing remaining and hope to finish in the near future.

Those earning their certification were: Michael Coleman, Dylan Hankins, Trent Mims and Michael Minner.

To earn certification, individuals must go through training and past two Haz-Mat awareness tests and two operations tests.
