During today’s 11:30 AM meeting, Council took the following actions.
Building Lease with Historic Downtown Sikeston: Council approved entering into a 24-month building lease with Historic Downtown Sikeston for the use of 215 N. New Madrid Street (former DPS Headquarters).
Acceptance of FY16 Financial Audit: The FY-16 audit, prepared by Bucher, Essner & Miles, LLC, was accepted. There were no significant findings of non-compliance with accounting standards, federal reporting requirements or internal controls. Authorization to Execute Contract: Council conducted the first reading of a bill that authorizes the Mayor to execute a contract with the Missouri Highways & Transportation Commission. This contract will provide funding for construction of Phase 1 of the Sikeston Rail-to-Trail Project. Final action on this bill will be taken during the February 6 City Council meeting.
Watami Parcel Development Agreement, 60 West TIF District: Council conducted the first reading of a bill approving a Parcel Development Agreement between Cotton Ridge and Rosewood Vanguard Corporation. Once approved, it will clear the way for construction of a Watami Sushi & Hibachi Steakhouse.
Interim Appointment to DPS Advisory Board: David Teachout was appointed to an interim term ending in October 2018. Teachout will be filling the position formerly held by Bill Mitchell.
There being no further business, Council convened an executive session to discuss property and personnel matters.
Council’s next meeting will be convened at 5 PM, Monday, February 6 in Council Chambers of City Hall.
