Council met yesterday at 5 PM. They received a briefing on SEMA’s floodplain mapping project for New Madrid County. Since Sikeston was remapped in 2012, no portions of the City will be included in the New Madrid County project. In a separate item Council authorized Public Works to proceed with a project to upgrade the City’s aerial photography. Last updated in 2008, the photographs will be used for planning and zoning, transportation, stormwater management, code and law enforcement projects. Midland GIS will be performing the work for $15,750. Council also approved a request from Alan Wire for a long-term lease of City property located along West Malone Avenue. The sign will identify the new location of Alan Wire’s Offices. The final business item was the adoption of Bill 6044, calling for the April 4 General Election.
Under other items City Manager JD Douglass announced the City’s recycling survey has been released. Residents can access the survey via Facebook at www.facebook.com/SikestonMo. The Manager also reviewed Council’s upcoming meeting schedule.
There being no further business, Council convened an executive session to discuss property and personnel matters.
The meeting was adjourned.
