Spring Clean-Up Information

Clean up your basement, garage, yard and home during the Spring Curbside Cleanup.  This is a great opportunity to dispose of bulky wastes and discards that are not routinely collected.

All items are to be placed next to the curb or alley where trash is usually picked up. Place items close together in one area the night before pickup. No return trips. No exceptions.

Sonny's Solid Waste Service, Inc. will not replace or be responsible for any items taken if they are next to the alley or curb on pickup days.

All 55 gallon barrels must be completely empty.

Any resident requesting pickup of large chargeable items must call Sonny's Solid Waste at 471-2869 before their scheduled pickup day for arrangements to be made. Payment must be made at the office prior to pickup. No exceptions. 

Chargeable Items
The following items will be picked up and charged $10.00 each. Any appliance compressor must be drained and removed prior to pickup. Pricing for commercial appliances are not included on this list.

  • Clothes washing machines
  • Clothes drying machines
  • Dish washing machines
  • Hot water heaters
  • Window air conditioners
  • Gas or electric cook stoves
  • Bathroom commode
  • Kitchen or bathroom sinks
  • Microwave ovens
  • Household refrigerators
  • Household trash compactors

Lead acid batteries - $1.00 each 

Used Oil - $1.00 per gallon
All used oil will need to be completely sealed in a plastic or metal container to avoid spillage. No less than 5 gallons per container or per pickup of used oil.

NO HAZARDOUS WASTE. Residents' addresses will be kept on file to avoid hazardous waste being put with the used oil. 

The following items will NOT be accepted during this cleanup:

  • Construction, Contractor, Commercial or Business Waste
  • Carpeting
  • Drywall
  • Paneling
  • Wood Flooring
  • Cabinets
  • Windows
  • Sewer Pipes
  • Yard Waste including limbs, leaves, shrub trimmings, grass, Christmas trees and garden waste 

Any resident needing to dispose of yard waste can contact Sonny's Solid Waste for information or may use the City of Sikeston's Compost Site on Compress Road. Please check the Compost Site Web Page for dates of operation and types of yard waste accepted.
