|Adult Trailblazers Meetings for 2016:
Membership in the Junior Trailblazers is free and open to children ages 6-12. The program, sponsored by the Scott County Health Department and the City of Sikeston Park Division, promotes exercise and healthy living. All meetings are held at the Clinton Building, but participants will utilize the multi-use trail in the Recreation Complex for exercise at each meeting. Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of the month from March through October.
“By promoting an active lifestyle and encouraging healthy food choices with our young participants, we are trying to be proactive in addressing childhood obesity” explains Brenda Freed, health educator with the Scott County Health Department and coordinator of the Junior Trailblazers. “We want to instill good habits for healthy living now, that hopefully will follow these children into adulthood.”
Membership in the Adult Trailblazers program is also free and open to adults 18 and older. Each participant will each be given a log book to record their exercise activity between the monthly meetings. The goal is for every participant to exercise at least 30 minutes a day, three days per week. Adult Trailblazers meetings are held the second Tuesday of the month from March through October at the Clinton Building.
