Public Safety Communications Officer (Job Description)

The City of Sikeston is accepting applications for a public safety communications officer.  Applicants must pass a practical test, extensive background check, medical examination, psychological examination, drug/alcohol screen, and interview.  Rookie compensation starts at $20,975 and increases to $23,124 after successful completion of required training.  Applicants with MULES certification and experience are eligible for additional compensation.  Benefits include health insurance, life insurance, retirement, 457 deferred compensation, cafeteria plan, wellness plan, paid vacation, holidays and sick leave.

Public Safety Officer (Job Description)

The City of Sikeston is accepting applications for public safety officer.  The position of public safety officer is cross trained in both police and fire functions.  The Department of Public Safety uses the FireTEAM Testing System, developed to measure specific aptitudes important to the occupation of fire fighter and emergency response personnel for entry level applicants.  The components consist of a human interaction test, a mechanical aptitude test, a math test, a reading test and a report writing test.  This procedure is waived for lateral hires.  All applicants are required to successfully complete a medical examination, drug/alcohol screen, psychological examination, and a functional employment test. Benefits include health insurance, life insurance, retirement, 457 deferred compensation, cafeteria plan, wellness plan, paid vacation, holidays and sick leave.   Rookie compensation begins at $27,022.  An increase of $1,000 is given upon completion of Patrol field training.  An increase of $1,000 is give upon completion of Fire field training.

IT Technician (Job Description)

The City of Sikeston is accepting applications for the position of IT Technician.  Must have commanding knowledge of Microsoft Windows desktop operating systems, as well as, a working knowledge of Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange and networking concepts; must have extensive knowledge of software applications, including Microsoft Office, Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat, and web applications, etc.  Requires special technical knowledge of techniques and procedures of software and network support for multiple users.  Must understand installation, configuration and troubleshooting processes of software, hardware, networking and accessory equipment.  Requires the ability to independently perform all of the duties of this position efficiently and effectively.  Must fluently read, write and speak English.  Must have strong communications and training skills, and be able to communicate technical information to non-technical users.   

Must be able to interpret and document customer support issues through inquiry and resolve in a timely manner; adhere to confidentiality policies; and be flexible in response to variable workloads, schedules, and locations.

Associates Degree in computer related field plus two years or more experience in a help desk/desktop support environment and network environment.  Applicant must hold A+ and Microsoft Desktop Support Technician Certifications.  Preferred certifications include Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) and/or CISCO Certified Technician. Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.

Entry Salary Range of $34,900 to $40,000.  Benefits include health insurance, life insurance, retirement, 457 deferred compensation, cafeteria plan, wellness plan, paid vacation, holidays and sick leave.
