Personal Property and Real Estate Taxes

Personal property and real estate taxes are due by December 31 of each year.  There is a one (1) percent penalty per month and $1.00 per month per vehicle penalty for the number of assessed vehicles, if paid after December 31.

You may not receive a tax bill if:

  • You did not live here January 1 of the current tax year.
  • You did not have a vehicle in your name January 1 of the current tax year.
  • The county where you live did not receive your yearly assessment form.
  • You own real estate and the taxes are to be paid through your escrow account.

If you have not received a tax statement by the middle of November, please contact the collector's office at 573-471-2193.

If you lived in Sikeston city limits January 1 and owned a vehicle registered in your name and have not received a tax bill, please contact the county in which you lived and obtain an assessment.
