Sikeston's City Council, elected by popular vote, formulates municipal laws and policies, while employing a professional manager to implement, direct, and monitor the operations of the City, thus creating the Council/Manager form of government within Sikeston’s Home-Rule Charter. 

Sikeston's Municipal Government is comprised of five (5) operational departments and eighteen (18) divisions:
