Collections - The library has over 32,000 books, audio cassettes, videos and magazines.  Back issues of periodicals are available for check-out.  A microfilm/microfiche reader is available for use.  Back issues of the local newspaper are available for viewing on microfilm. back

Reference Department - The library reference department has books and other material to assist the library staff in helping patrons solve their reference queries.  Telephone queries may be answered by the library staff. back

Loan Procedures - Anyone living in the city limits of Sikeston, owning property in the city limits of Sikeston or residing in Scott County and the Scott County R-VI school district may obtain a library card free of charge.  On their first visit to the library, a person should present one source of identification with name and address and complete an application from available at the circulation desk.
     Children must be 5 years old to have a library card.  Any child under 14 must have a parent or legal guardian complete their application for a card. back

Length of Loans - Books may be checked out for a period of 14 days and may be renewed once for the same period of there haven't been any requests to reserve the book during the original check-out period.
   Audio books may be checked out for 2 weeks with a limit of 3 titles.
   Back issues of magazines may be checked out for one week.  Current magazines are not available for loan.
    Video tapes may be checked out for 2 days with a limit of 2 videos per family. back

Inter-Library Loans - Backing up the library's own holdings is a complete Inter-Library Loan Service.  This is available through the network system and cooperating libraries.  The only charge to the patron is the postage to return the item borrowed.  back

Fines - A fine of 10¢ per day will be charged for each overdue book or magazine.  No fine will exceed the cost of the item.  Videos, audios and CDs have a fine of $1.00 per day up to the cost of the material.  No borrower will be allowed to check out any materials when outstanding charges of $10 or more exist. back

Internet Access - The library has six computer stations available for patrons to go online for reference purposes only.  Each patron must read internet policy before "surfing the net."  Children under age 14 must have a parent or legal guardian with them while using the internet. back

Copy & Fax Service - Patrons may obtain copies for 20¢ per sheet for letter size (8½" x 11") and 25¢ for legal size (8½" x 14").  Patrons may also use the library's fax service at $2.00 for the first page and $1.00 for each additional page.  Incoming faxes are $1.00 per page. back

Children's Services - Books, magazines, and encyclopedias for the your child through 8th grade are available.  The Children's Librarian can assist with information and readers' questions.  Group tours, class visits and library instruction are available by advance arrangement. 
     Preschool Story Time for ages 2-5 is held every Wednesday from 10 - 10:30 A.M. Check with the Library or visit the Library website for upcoming events. back

Adult Programming - Book discussion groups are held each month usually on the first Tuesday at 6:30 P.M.  Other programs are offered on an ongoing basis free of charge.  Check with the Library or visit the Library website for upcoming events. back

Services for Special Needs - Large print books and books on cassette and CD are available.  The library is handicap accessible. back

McAmis Community Room - This room is available to nonprofit groups or organizations for civic, cultural or educational programs only.  There is no charge for use of the facility; and organizations using the room may not charge their attendees for the program.  Library programming and events have priority for use of the McAmis Community Room. back

Tours - Orientation tours of the library are available by advance arrangement.  Ask for details at the circulation desk. back

Gifts to the Library - Gift books or monetary contributions to enrich the collection or services are welcome.  Lasting memorials for loved ones of friends and family are also encouraged. back

Annual Book Sale - The annual book sale is held every Spring, usually in early April. back
